Hola ~ I spent two full days this week with real estate lawyers learning about the nuances of selling property in Costa Rica. As a member of (CRGAR) the Costa Rica Global Association of Realtors, we are required to take these courses. I really enjoyed learning from these very experienced attorneys. Real Estate is quite different here. There is no formal MLS and most listings are open so you will see several agents claiming the listing and some have different prices too. Searching every company website is tedious. Real estate agents do not have to be licensed here. Several agents are licensed in the states or other countries. Be careful who you choose to represent you and make sure a proper due diligence is completed. Having strong relationships with top notch attorneys , inspectors and contractors is a must !There are many concessions, stamps, and processes you need to be aware of. Its not difficult, just different.
